Technical education and general education
are two important sectors of education. There are some similarities and
differences between them. Generally, technical education is much more
skill-oriented or job-oriented. On the other hand, general education is degree-based.
In general education, one gets a higher degree like BA, BSc, BBA, MBA or any
other higher degree but does not acquire enough skills to do anything
practically. As a result, one may not get a job with a general education. He
may remain unemployed and burden the family all his life. On the other
hand, no one is unemployed after acquiring a technical education. If he
doesn’t get a job, he can earn by himself doing something. General education
produces only some employees and officers but technical education produces
skilled workers and professionals. Technical education is more necessary
than general education for the development of a country. However, it is
true that people in Bangladesh still prefer general education to technical
education. They should change their attitude. Otherwise, the development
of our country will be hampered. Above all, the government should manage
technical education along with general education for the bright future of all
the students of our country.

কারিগরি শিক্ষা এবং সাধারণ শিক্ষা শিক্ষার দুটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ
ভাগ। এদের মধ্যে কিছু মিল ও পার্থক্য আছে। সাধারণত, কারিগরি শিক্ষা অনেক বেশি
দক্ষতাভিত্তিক বা চাকরিমুখী। অন্যদিকে, সাধারণ শিক্ষা ডিগ্রি
ভিত্তিক। সাধারণ শিক্ষায়, কেউ উচ্চ ডিগ্রী যেমন বিএ, বিএসসি, বিবিএ,
এমবিএ বা অন্য কোন উচ্চ ডিগ্রী অর্জন করে কিন্তু কার্যত কিছু করার জন্য যথেষ্ট দক্ষতা
অর্জন করে না। ফলে সাধারণ শিক্ষা অর্জন করে কেউ চাকরি নাও পেতে পারে। সে বেকার থাকতে পারে এবং সারাজীবন পরিবারের বোঝা হয়ে থাকতে
পারে। অন্যদিকে, কারিগরি শিক্ষা অর্জন করে কেউ বেকার থাকে না। যদি সে চাকরি নাও পায় তবে নিজে
কিছু করে উপার্জন করতে পারে। সাধারণ শিক্ষা শুধুমাত্র কিছু কর্মচারী
এবং কর্মকর্তা তৈরি করে কিন্তু কারিগরি শিক্ষা দক্ষ কর্মী এবং পেশাদার তৈরি করে। একটি দেশের উন্নয়নের জন্য কারিগরি
শিক্ষা সাধারণ শিক্ষার চেয়ে বেশি প্রয়োজন। তবে এটা সত্য যে বাংলাদেশে এখনও
মানুষ কারিগরি শিক্ষার চেয়ে সাধারণ শিক্ষাকেই বেশি পছন্দ করে। তাদের এই মনোভাব পরিবর্তন
করা উচিত। তা না হলে আমাদের দেশের উন্নয়ন ব্যাহত হবে। সর্বোপরি, সরকারকে
সাধারণ শিক্ষার পাশাপাশি আমাদের দেশের সকল শিক্ষার্থীদের উজ্জ্বল ভবিষ্যতের জন্য কারিগরি
শিক্ষার ব্যবস্হা করা উচিত।
