Games and sports teach us to accept both defeat and victory in mind. Similarly, they give us much opportunity to meet with many people. On the other hand, the sports venue becomes a meeting place of people from different countries. So, when people of different nations get together on the occasion of an international sporting event, they come closer to each other, sharing views, opinions and friendship. A Train Journey

A journey is pleasant to all. A journey by train is especially very pleasant and enjoyable to me. A few days ago I made a journey by train from Dhaka to Chittagong. During the last vacation one of my friends requested me to attend his sister’s marriage ceremony at Chittagong. So I got a chance to make a journey by train. I accepted this invitation gladly. Two other friends joined with me. On the fixed day we reached Kamalapur Railway Station at 07:00 A.M. The station was very crowded. Somehow we managed to buy our tickets. With great difficulty we got into the train. Fortunately I got my seat beside the window. After a few minutes the guard blew the whistle and the train began to move on. At first the train moved on slowly. There it began to run in full speed. I kept looking outside through the window. The train was passing through the green fields. Dew drops on green grasses were glittering like pearls. Trees and houses seemed to run behind. We saw the farmers working in the field. Cattle were grazing here and there. I enjoyed the scenes with cheerful mind. All these pleased me very much. It was the most pleasant journey in my life.

Milk

Milk is a liquid substance. Its colour is white. It is neither so light as water nor so heavy as oil or honey. It looks fine. It is called an ideal food because all kinds of food value belong to it. We get milk generally from cows, goats and sheep but we are not so accustomed to drinking or using the milk of goats or sheep rather we always use the cow’s milk. Other animals also produce milk but people do not consume that because they are not suitable for our health. Milk is used for various purposes. It is used to make many kinds of delicious foods: semai, payesh, cake, polao, biriani, curd, ghee, sweets and so on probably milk is the most beneficial food in the world. It makes a man healthy and strong. It contains so many food values that if a man regularly drinks milk, he need not take any other kind of nutritious food. Only milk is enough for a man to supply all kinds of nutrition. So we should be aware of the importance of drinking milk. Again the government and the private sectors must work together to take great care of the cows in our country so that they can supply huge quantity of milk to meet the demand of the people of Bangladesh.

My Experience of a great day

Everybody has a great day in his life, and it may be interesting. In my life I have also a great day and it happened in the last January. From our school I went to a scout jamboree in Srimongal. From Sylhet we went there by train. We were ten members in our team. The programme was for two days. We had two teachers with us. The first day started with cleaning. In the morning, we cleaned our camp area, arranged the tent and then prepared our breakfast. After break fast, we took part in a March past and display. Then our senior brothers prepared our lunch. In afternoon, we had a scout class from 2 to 4 pm and in the evening, we enjoyed a cultural program. Our team performed a small play and it was great fun. At night, we slept in the tent. The next day we went different places of Sylhet. We were very happy to see the forest, the tea gardens, and the rubber gardens and so many mountains. Our program ended with a bonfire and the scout oath. We were away from our family for two days but we had great experience.

School Garden

School garden means the place which is covered with different types of vegetables and flowers, situated in the area of the school. Generally every reputed and popular school in cities and towns has school garden. It may be small, or large. Like others we have also a garden in our school. It is a flower garden. It is situated beside of our class room near our school weal. Whenever we get time, we work in it. In our school garden we grow many types of flowers such as, the rose, the marigold, the china-rose, the jasmine, the tube rose, the china-box etc. On our holy days we pass our time by working in our school garden. Sometime we lose the soil with spade and weed out the grass. Every afternoon after completing our classes we water the plants. Beside our flower garden we also grow different types of vegetables and fruits. We put a strong fence around our school garden so that cattle and naughty boys cannot do any harm to our school garden. In the morning we gain much pleasure when we see our garden full of various blooming flowers. They spread sweet smell. The garden also looks very charming. The beauty and sweet smell of the flowers make us jolly. When our friends come from other school to visit our school we take them into our school garden and show them various flowers. They become very glad and they thank us. Before making this garden some of us were the boy of ill health. Day by day they became weak. We started the garden to have a sound health and our health, in fact, improved. Every day we work in the garden at least two hours after completing our classes. As a result of our health runs well. We also keep a care taker to look after the garden. Though gardening is very hard working but it is enjoyable too. So now we are very proud of our school garden. Every day our guardians and other people visit our school to take their children’s condition. When they come in our school they visit to our garden. When they visit our school garden and they admire our school garden. At last they thank us and also our teachers.

Poverty

Generally poverty indicates the situation in which man cannot enjoy the basic needs of life. It is a great issue, not only in the country Bangladesh, but also in many countries around. Everyday thousands of people are finding themselves well below the poverty line. Many people are starving to death and many people are not even having a place to rest their heads each night. It is a social curse and a source of many social evils. Similarly, it is a shame on the society. The impact of poverty is also reflected in the housing standards. One of the main causes for poverty is over-population. The population is increasing rapidly but the resources are not enough to cope up with it. Again, most of the people of our country are very poor. They live below the poverty line. They lead very miserable life due to poverty. However, this poverty can be lessened to some extent. Our lands should be cultivated scientifically. Scientific method and modern farming should be introduced. The high birth rate should be controlled. More employment opportunities should be created. Some other actions may be created to remove poverty. These are animal husbandry, crop diversification, fisheries, poultry rising, horticulture, dairy farming etc. Finally, over population should be stooped. To stop poverty government should take necessary steps against it and we should be conscious about poverty.

Price Hike

Price hike means the rise of price of daily necessaries. Today price hike is a common phenomenon in our economy. The price of essential commodities is increasing by leaps and bounds. The causes of price hike are many. Hoarding is one of the important factors for soaring price level. People hoard the essential commodities with an ill motive and as a result there is break down in the supply. Smuggling and black marketing are also important factors that cause price hike. Essential commodities are always being smuggled across the border. Shortage of supply due to low production also accelerates the price hike of essential goods. Our population is increasing in geometrical progress, while the supply of food increases in arithmetical progress. For this the supply of goods is very scanty in comparison to our demands. However efforts should be made and necessary actions and proper measures should be taken to tackle the situation. Hoarding should be controlled. Smuggling and black-marketing are to be eradicated. Adequate supply of essential commodities is to be ensured. And last of all government should launch programmed to tackle the price hike problem. No individual, community, organization not even the government is capable of solving the problem single handed. So, we all should come forward to fight united against the problem. And public awareness can be raised through newspaper, radio, satellite television, and internet in this regard.

Self-Employment

Self-employment means to create job opportunity for oneself by one’s own effort. Today the most vicious problem that Bangladesh is facing is unemployment problem. As Bangladesh is densely populated the government can not provide the young population with employment opportunity for everyone. This unemployment is a curse. It weakens the body and mind of our young generation. Frustration leads them to drug addiction and various crimes. But we should change our notion of secure and comfort able job in an office or bank because there are more people in our country than jobs. So, educated youth should not depend on the government to provide them with jobs. Self employment is the possible solution to this problem. The youths should not remain idle after completing their studies. They should remember that self help is the best help. They can easily engage themselves in various sectors of self employment. Agricultural farming, poultry raising, fish cultivation, livestock rearing are some of the sectors. The government and different NGOs are working relentlessly for providing the youths with training in various vocational activities. They also provides the youths with loans on easy terms to start these jobs of self employment. So, we ourselves should seek self employment because a self employed man is not unemployed anymore rather he can provide other people with jobs.

The Olympic Games

Today, the Olympic Games are the world’s largest athletic skill and competitive games. More than 200 nations participate in these games. Generally, the games occur every four years. The Olympic Games have a long history. The first Olympic Games at Olympia were held in 776 BC. The tradition of the game comes from the Greece. The Greece first held it at the foot of Mount Olympus. That was almost three thousand years ago. Baron Pierre de Coubertin, a France man, is the father of the modern Olympic Games. He founded the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894. As a result, the Olympics shifted away from pastime, to allow the participation of professional athletes. The ancient Olympics had some differences from the modern Games. There were fewer events, and only free men who spoke Greek could compete, instead of athletes from any country. Women were not allowed to even watch the games on penalty of death let alone play in them. Both the modern and Ancient Olympics have close similarities in their purpose and in their problems. Now 13000 athletes compete in 33 different sports in Olympic Games. The world has already seen 29 Olympic Games. The 30th Olympic Games took place in London in 2012. Now a day, the games become more popular to the audiences and the competitors.
