Nelson Mandela was a revolutionary leader
and political icon in the 20th century. He was the only leader in the world who
fought against apartheid. Actually, he fought for justice, equality and freedom
almost all his life. This undisputed leader was born on July 18 in 1918 in
Mvezo, a small village in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. He was arrested in
1962 for racial struggle. He had to spend 27 years in prison. He was freed from
prison in 1990. Then he was elected the first black president of South Africa
in 1994. In this democratic election, apartheid was banished from South Africa
forever. Only for his leadership and foresight, peace returned to South
Africa. He worked tirelessly for reconciliation, social justice and
economic development between the black and the white. However, despite facing
many challenges, Nelson Mandela was finally able to free South Africa from
apartheid, poverty and discrimination. After becoming president, he took many
initiatives in education, health care and economic development for oppressed
black people.. He received many awards in his life for his revolutionary work
including the Nobel Peace Prize. Even today, his struggle continues to inspire
people worldwide to fight for freedom and equality. He is recognized as a world
icon for social justice and human rights. This revolutionary leader died in
2013. In fact, a revolutionary leader like Nelson Mandela is rare in world
history. Therefore, Nelson Mandela will remain immortal in the hearts of people
for ages.
