শিক্ষক নিবন্ধন পরীক্ষার প্রিলিসহ বিভিন্ন চাকরির পরীক্ষাতে Preposition থাকেই। তাই Preposition ইংরেজিতে খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ একটি টপিক। অনেকের কাছে Preposition একটি আতঙ্কের নাম। কিন্তু Appropriate Prepositions ভালোভাবে আয়ত্ত করার জন্য আপনি যখন পড়বেন, তখন একটু হালকা শব্দ করে পড়বেন যেন অন্তত আপনার কান পর্যন্ত শব্দ পৌঁছায় এবং পড়ার সময় খাতায় বারবার লিখবেন। না বুঝে কোনো Preposition মুখস্থ করা যাবে না। Preposition এর উদাহরণগুলো পড়ার সময় বাক্যের অর্থ বোঝে বোঝে পড়বেন। বাক্যে কী অর্থে কোন Preposition ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে তা খেয়াল করবেন। একদিনে একসাথে ১০টির বেশি Preposition পড়বেন না। প্রতিদিন ১০টি করে Preposition ভালোভাবে বারবার পড়লে দেখবেন অল্প কিছু দিনের মধ্যে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সব Preposition শেষ হয়ে গেছে। এইভাবে পড়লে আপনার জন্য Preposition শেখা ও মনে রাখা অনেকটা সহজ হয়ে যাবে।
Appropriate Prepositions ভালোভাবে আয়ত্ত করার জন্য আপনি যখন পড়বেন, তখন একটু হালকা শব্দ করে পড়বেন যেন অন্তত আপনার কান পর্যন্ত শব্দ পৌঁছায় এবং পড়ার সময় খাতায় বারবার লিখবেন।
- Abide by (মেনে চলা) – The students must abide by the rules of discipline.
- Abhorrent to (ঘৃণ্য) – Corruption is abhorrent to me.
- Abound in (কোনো কিছুর ভিতর প্রচুর পরিমাণে বিদ্যমান থাকা) – Hilsha fish abounds in the Meghna.
- Abound with (কোনো কিছু দ্বারা পরিপূর্ণ হওয়া) – The Meghna abounds with hilsha fish.
- Absent from (অনুপস্থিত) – They are absent from the meeting.
- Absorbed in (নিমগ্ন) – She is absorbed in deep study.
- Abstain from (বিরত থাকা) – Everybody should try to abstain from drug addiction.
- Acceptable to (গ্রহণযোগ্য) – Her offer is acceptable to me.
- Access to (প্রবেশাধিকার) – They have easy access to the Chairman’s room.
- According to (অনুসারে) – She acted according to my order.
- Account with (হিসাব) – He has a savings account with Sonli Bank.
- Account for (জবাবদিহি করা) – They were unable to account for the mistake.
- Accused of (অভিযুক্ত) – The man was accused of theft.
- Acquit of (অব্যাহতি দেয়া) – The chief justice acquitted him of the charge of murder.
- Adapt to (খাপ খাওয়ানো) – Shila cannot adapt to new place.
- Addicted to (আসক্তি) – Kamal is addicted to gambling.
- Adhere to (লেগে থাকা, অটল থাকা) – You should adhere to your principle.
- Admit of (অবকাশ থাকা; সুযোগ থাকা) – His conduct admits of no excuse.
- Afraid of (ভীত) – Kamal gets afraid of the dog.
- Agree to (কারোর প্রস্তাবে রাজি হওয়া) – He agreed to her proposal.
- Agree with (ব্যক্তির সাথে একমত হওয়া) – I agree with him.
- Aim at (লক্ষ্য করা) – The RAB aim at the rapist.
- Allergic to (ভীষণ অপছন্দনীয়) – Lots of people are allergic to drinking.

- Angry for (কোনো কাজে রাগান্বিত হওয়া) – My friends were angry with me for my having done this.
- Angry with (কারো সাথে রাগান্বিত) – Jamal is angry with me.
- Annoy with, for (কোনো ব্যক্তি দ্বারা কোনো কিছুর জন্য বিরক্ত হওয়া) – Ema was annoyed with him for being late.
- Antipathy to/towards (ঘৃণা)- I have a strong antipathy to smoking.
- Apathy towards (অনগ্রহ) – The student has a great apathy towards his studies.
- Anxious about (কোনো কিছুর ব্যাপারে চিন্তিত) – Shila is anxious about her examination.
- Anxious for (কারোর ব্যাপারে চিন্তিত) – Karim was anxious for her.
- Apology to (কারো কাছে ক্ষমা চাওয়া) – Kamal should ask apology to her.
- Apology for (কোনো কারণে ক্ষমা চাওয়া) – Kamal should ask apology to her for his mistake.
- Appetite for (ক্ষুধা) – He has no appetite for food.
- Apply to (কারো কাছে আবেদন করা) – He applied to the principal for free admission.
- Apply for (কোনো বিষয়ে আবেদন করা) – applied for the job.
- Appointed to (নিযুক্ত) – They appointed me to this post.
