Epidemics and pandemics are the two
widespread situations of any particular infectious disease nationally or
globally. They affect a large proportion of the population drastically. Actually,
there is some difference between an epidemic and a pandemic. An epidemic is a
situation when a disease spreads rapidly and affects many people within a
specific area. In this situation, many people in a certain area get
sick with the same illness suddenly. On the other hand, a pandemic is a
situation when a disease spreads rapidly and affects many people globally. It
is more serious than an epidemic. Both epidemics and pandemics are caused by
viruses or bacteria that can easily spread from one person to another. They
create widespread illness and sometimes result in significant challenges
for healthcare sectors. Throughout history, we have seen examples of both. The
flu epidemic of 1918 and recently COVID-19 are notable examples. Their
influence was global. However, the
spread of disease during epidemics and pandemics should be controlled and prevented. Finally, we all should
work together to control epidemics and epidemics along with the government.
