Gender discrimination is
a great problem in Bangladesh. It begins at birth. It means the disparity
between the male and the female. The female are the most victims of gender
discrimination in our country. Actually, there are many causes of gender discrimination.
The main causes for this are social prejudices and customs. These two factors
degrade the position of the female. However, when a female child is born, it is
not considered a happy event for anyone. Not only this, she is not greeted with
deep warmth. Instead of being enjoyed at her birth, the male members think
that she has come to this world to add to their miseries. At the same time, the
mother of the female child is also looked down upon with contempt and hatred. She is
blamed for giving birth to a female child. Gradually the female child starts
growing up and the journey of gender discrimination continues to her.
Generally, she is allowed to eat less than her brother. She is often denied the
right to education. She is not allowed to go outside the house and is confined
within the four walls of the house. Before she reaches the age of 12, the
thought of her marriage and dowry enters the mind of her parents and it makes
them mad. In fact, thinking about her marriage, they deprive them of
their restful sleep and grow old themselves prematurely. As a result, her
parents start looking for a husband for her before she attains physical and
mental maturity and many times marry her off, extinguishing her hope of life
forever. However, this problem can’t be solved overnight. To solve this
problem we should change our attitude towards the female. We also need to
realize that the female have equal rights as the male. Above all, we all
should be liberal and conscious to remove gender discrimination from society.

সবচেয়ে বেশি লিঙ্গ বৈষম্যের শিকার। প্রকৃতপক্ষে,
লিঙ্গ বৈষম্যের অনেক কারণ আছে। এর
প্রধান কারণ সামাজিক কুসংস্কার ও প্রথা। এই দুটি কারণ নারীর অবস্থানকে ক্ষুন্ন
করে। যাইহোক, যখন একটি
কন্যা সন্তান জন্ম করে তখন এটি কারো জন্য একটি আনন্দের ঘটনা হিসাবে বিবেচিত হয়
না। শুধু তাই নয়, তাকে
গভীর উষ্ণতার সাথে বরণ করা হয় না। তার জন্মে আনন্দ
পাওয়ার পরিবর্তে, পুরুষ সদস্যরা মনে করে যে সে এই
পৃথিবীতে তাদের দুঃখ বাড়াতে এসেছে। একই সঙ্গে
কন্যা সন্তানের মাকেও অবজ্ঞা ও ঘৃণার চোখে দেখা হয়। মেয়ে সন্তানের জন্ম দেওয়ার জন্য তাকে দায়ী করা হয়। ধীরে ধীরে মেয়ে শিশু বড় হতে থাকে এবং তার সাথে লিঙ্গ বৈষম্যের যাত্রা
